Day 01: Arrival in Paro

Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your guide will receive you. After hotel check-in, take the day at a relaxed pace to adjust to the altitude.

If time permits, visit Rinpung Dzong or take a gentle walk through Paro town for your first glimpse of Bhutanese life.

Drive to Thimphu (1–1.5 hours) following the Paro and Thimphu rivers.

Visit Buddha Dordenma for sweeping valley views, followed by Memorial Chorten where locals gather for prayer. Later, explore Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and monastic body.

In the evening, enjoy a walk through Thimphu’s main street with its relaxed cafés and shops.

Spend the day exploring Bhutan’s cultural life.

Visit the Folk Heritage Museum and the Textile Museum to understand traditional living and craftsmanship. Continue to the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal.

Drive to Punakha, crossing Dochula Pass, where panoramic Himalayan views unfold on clear days.

Descend into the Punakha Valley and visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong. Later, take a short walk across the suspension bridge overlooking the river.

Today’s journey is the longest but among the most scenic (6–7 hours).

Travel through changing landscapes and stop at Trongsa Dzong, an important historical fortress. After crossing Yotong La Pass, descend into Bumthang Valley, Bhutan’s spiritual heartland.

Spend the day exploring Bumthang’s sacred sites.

Enjoy a gentle walk through nearby villages and experience the simplicity of local life.

Drive to the peaceful Phobjikha Valley (5–6 hours), passing through forested mountain roads.

Visit Gangtey Monastery overlooking the valley, followed by a gentle nature walk. In winter, this valley is home to the rare black-necked cranes.

Drive back to Thimphu (4–5 hours), enjoying scenic landscapes along the way.

The rest of the day is free to relax, explore cafés, or browse local handicraft shops.

Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, known for its peaceful and grounding atmosphere.

Hike to Taktsang Monastery, perched dramatically on a cliff about 900 meters above the valley. The round-trip hike takes 4–6 hours at a steady pace.
